Why should I be saved (why God is interested in 'saving' us)

Why should I be saved (why God is interested in 'saving' us)

Why should I be saved (why God is interested in 'saving' us)

All have sinned:

  • Human beings are capable of acts of great love, courage and heroism. Yet, not one of us (apart from Jesus) is without sin.

  • The bible describes the heart of a man as extremely wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). And we are capable for a lot of things that are contrary to the nature of God. Sometimes, even our thoughts, even my thoughts scare me, but as a Christian, I am immediately convicted by the Holy Spirit.

  • Human beings do and say things to hurt others, some with more magnitude that others. However, all sin breaks Gods law.

The presence of sin indicates the need for atonement and forgiveness

Even human laws indicate atonement for sins. You do something wrong, you ‘pay’ for it and you can resume your life as normal..these are daily life principles.

Heavenly principles are similar: Without the Shedding of Blood, There is No Forgiveness of Sins (Heb 9:22)

We are all tethered to something whether we like it or not

You are either bound by God or bound by money, peace of mind. There is always something that humans long to be connected or are connected to. . For some, it is drugs, for others money or their jobs.

However Jesus said come to me all you who are heavy and broken hearted and I will give you rest (Matthew 11: 28). He also said my burden is light and my yoke is easy (Matthew 11:29), one of my favourite verses in the bible.

So basically, if your connection is to God, things are much lighter and way more easier for you. Similar to the original intentions of God for mankind. In my personal spiritual life, I can testify that being truly saved, I’ve had it relatively easy and I just put on almost everything bothering him on God and HE sees me throug

God is interested in helping us through live and live life to the fullest. The way this can happen is if we have a relationship with him which is only possible through reconciliation that the Blood and Death of Jesus affords us.

Being ‘saved’ means that we are saved from eternal damnation and saved from our naturally sinful ways both through Gods love for us.

How can I be saved?

Why should I be saved (why God is interested in 'saving' us)

  • Believe in God. If you struggle with believing, you can ask God for faith (that’s how gracious God is)

  • Believe that God sent his son (Jesus Christ) to redeem us by dying for our sins once and for all

  • If you can speak, confess this with your mouth and ask God to help you have a relationship with him

  • Saying the ‘sinner’s prayer might help:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.

What happens now that I am saved?

  • It is important to pray everyday. Start with the Lords prayer, it is really easy and I still say this everyday when I wake up:

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil" (Luke 11: 2-4)

  •   Try to read your bible everyday… it is OK to start slow but make sure you read at least a chapter everyday. I have found the app Bible in One Year very useful (BIOY): https://bibleinoneyear.org/en/

  • It helps to find a bible believing church
